We’re excited to announce the show dates for the world premiere of The Bully Problem this summer!

All performances will take place at the Broadwater Main Stage in Hollywood, under the banner of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.

The Bully Problem wins first prize in the NMI Search for New Musicals!

The Bully Problem has won the first prize of the annual Search for New Musicals competition held by New Musicals Inc. (North Hollywood, CA). From NMI’s press release:

The Search for New Musicals accepts entrants from around the globe; winners receive awards worth up to $25,000 in workshop productions, concert readings, feedback, and developmental support.

“We are thrilled to sponsor the Search,” says Elise Dewsberry, Artistic Director of NMI. “We love seeing what writers are creating; and of course our mission is to nurture the folks who are writing musicals, so announcing the winners of the Search is one of my favorite things to do all year!”

The Bully Problem at the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop!

One of two shows selected from hundreds of submissions, The Bully Problem was featured at the three day ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop at the the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. A fully-sung staged reading of the first act was presented by a cast that included several members from the 2017 STAGES workshop.

Afterwards, show author Michael Gordon Shapiro received invaluable commentary and suggestions from an all-star panel comprised of Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Karey Kirkpatrick (Something Rotten), and Dean Pitchford (Carrie).

The Bully Problem to stage at the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop

The Bully Problem will be featured at the 2018 ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop in Los Angeles this February! A 50-minute excerpt of the show will be presented at the gorgeous Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, followed by commentary by an industry panel led by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Prince of Egypt, Pippin).

The event is free and open to the public, but requires reservations. See the official press release below for more information. Anyone interested in attending is advised to make reservations ASAP, as these workshops sell out very quickly!
